Position Overview: The Firefighter will be responsible for fire suppression, driving and operating fire apparatus under emergency conditions, inspecting and maintenance of related auxiliary firefighting equipment, training and development of volunteer firefighters and instructing fire prevention and public education. The firefighter will be a First Responder for medical emergencies.
• Hours of work: Shiftwork (24-hour shifts)
• Compensation: As per the current IAFF Local 573 Collective Agreement. Minimum Qualifications:
• Minimum high school graduate (OSSD) or college program preferred.
• NFPA 1001 Level 1 & 2 preferred or equivalent firefighter training and experience.
• NFPA 1002 or equivalent. • NFPA 1072 Hazardous Materials Operations certification.
• Must possess and maintain current certification in “Standard” First Aid with CPR Level “C”.
• Must possess a valid Class “DZ” License with a clean driving record.
• Basic computer skills are considered an asset.
• Satisfactory completion of medical examination and physical agility test.
• Must provide a clear Vulnerable Sector Check.
